Backyard & Garden Party Rental Checklist
Outdoor parties feel effortless when the basics are covered. Use this checklist to plan shade, seating, light and power before you think about decor.
Do you need a tent for a backyard party?
A canopy tent protects guests from sun and unexpected weather, and it defines the party space. Measure your yard and check for level ground, overhead branches and access before choosing a size.
How should you plan seating?
Count guests, then decide between dining-style tables and chairs or a looser lounge setup with picnic blankets and cushions. Mixing both gives guests choices throughout the day.
What lighting works best outdoors?
String lights overhead create instant atmosphere at dusk. Add lanterns and flameless candles on tables, and keep paths lit so guests can move safely after dark.
Will you need power?
Lights, music and treat machines all need electricity. Check where your outlets are; if they are far from the party area, a portable generator keeps everything running.
What makes guests comfortable outside?
Think about shade, a place to sit, cold drinks and something to do:
- Fringe umbrellas for shade over lounge areas
- A rolling cooler for drinks
- Lawn games or carnival games for kids
- A popcorn or snow cone machine as a treat station
